2009

Behind the Hype is off to a good start to the year. In general, the world is a fucked up place, with the world economy at a historic low, people losing jobs, and companies folding / merging left, right and center. So what does this mean for you? What it means is that entertainment is your escape from reality, and we bring you the reality of entertainment. We hope this will be our break-out year, with bringing on more writers and really getting the word out. Enjoy our 2009 images below, and be sure to check back here every month to see the latest set of images of the month.

January saw a new presidential administration in the White House, with the first black president in the history of the U.S.A. Football playoffs leading up to the Superbowl, the first grand slam in the tennis world with the Australian Open, a look at the best albums of 2008, and lots more. Check out the pictures below to see if we covered everything. ;)

February was filled with lots of events – Grammy’s, Oscars, and a look at the upcoming outdoor Coachella festival. And yet, more people were glued to their TVs to see the updates on a story about Travis, the chimpanzee. Go figure. We also showed you when it is OK to be emo, and brought you the hijinks of a Japanese reality TV show about a game of 24-hour tag called “Gaki.”

March saw a lot of change around the pop culture world. A new MLS team from Seattle plays their first game, the highly anticipated Watchmen movie came out, and maybe science fiction fans weep as Battlestar Gallactica leaves the air. We did our top 19 movie titles article, and teach you how to get your dick sucked. Check out the pics below!

April was a month chalk full of shenanigans, with April Fool’s, and the stoner “holiday” on 4/20. We also checked out the big outdoor festival, Coachella, in Indio, CA. The sports world loses a big personality, when John Madden calls it quits after 30 years of commentating for the NFL.

May, better known as fan boy month, saw quite a few pre-Summer blockbusters. Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, all came out to start your hunger for Summer. The two big things in the sports world were the UEFA Final, and Manny Ramirez getting suspended for 50 games. And to round things off, we had opportunities to relax and get CRUNK with Mother’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, & Memorial Day
