4/20 has many meanings to many people. It's the day after April 19th, it's the day of the Columbine shooting, it's the day I saw Bob Saget's stand-up routine live; hell, it's even Adolf Hitlers birthday. But April 20th is also the day pot smokers celebrate their counterculture holiday together. And as an ode to this wonderful plant, most people on 4/20 smoke the entire day away. One thing I can't stand though are the idiots who smoke up and just sit around their house the entire day. 4/20 is a day to celebrate, so get off your lazy stoner asses and go do something!
Here are 5 activities to do on 420, that are fairly cheap and should be accessible to most anyone:
- Go Watch Crank: High Voltage
- Go to an Amusement Park
- Go get Some Donuts
- Go to the Zoo
- Go Drinking
- Go Masturbate
I am aware of the notorious reputation the first Crank movie has. It's not a movie that most people like. It's violent, dirty, and unfriendly, but I love the hell out of it. The movie is fucking visceral and fast and such an assault on your senses that it really lends itself to a heightened sense of awareness. Watching Chev Chelios rip apart an LA gang one second then riding on a motor cycle while dressed in a hospital gown the next is hilarious, and a bit surreal. High Voltage seems to be more of the same Crank goodness, which is fine by me. But of course with Crank: High Voltage being in theaters it's impossible to watch it at optimal highness. If you insist on going to the theaters, then I highly recommend pot brownies (no pun intended). They keep you higher, better and longer. But a good alternative is to just smoke up in your living room and watch the first Crank on DVD (on a big screen of course). Give it a shot, it's only 90 minutes.
Amusement parks are great fun when you aren't high, so just imagine them when you are. With the wind blowing on your face and through your hair, the rides can be a very cathartic experience. I've been to Six Flags high and I can tell you from first-hand experience that it's a ton of fun. I highly recommend any sort of ride that rises up and falls down. But avoid the water rides. Being in wet cloths is no fun sober and it's even less fun high. Again you would probably want to make some pot brownies, unless of course the security at your local amusement park is very lax.
Donuts are a great high snack. They are cheap, sweet, and come in lots of varieties. The important thing to do is to make sure you get lots of variety. Get creative, don't just get a dozen glazed donuts. Get some frosted ones, jelly-filled ones, cream-filled ones, plain ones; just don't bore yourself. But whatever you do make sure you avoid Krispy Kreme. It's not that the donuts there are bad, it's that they are so overly sweet that the mary-jane will be detrimental to the taste. Dunkin Donuts is my donut place of choice, but go to whatever place you feel like.
If there is one rule that holds true for me when I'm high it's that animals are fucking hilarious. I couldn't tell you the amount of hours I wasted in front of my couch watching Planets Funniest Animals. Going to the Zoo whilst high is great because it feels like you are traveling across the world. There isn't much that compares to looking at a bunch of tigers then walking ten minutes and going into a bird house. And who knows, you may get lucky and see a chimpanzee eat it's own excrement.
I know this may go against the whole principle of 4/20, but I love drinking a few beers after smoking a bowl. Beer is cool, it's refreshing, and it's delicious. Words can't describe the feeling you get when you quench your thirst with a cool Yuengling after suffering from chronic dry mouth. Plus, if you go to a bar high on 4/20, you may meet other people who smoke and develop some new connections. Just don't overdo it on the alcohol - remember it's 4/20, not St. Patty's day.
Bonus (for the loners out there):
This is self explanatory.
