The world of music seems to have been lacking in depth lately, so the return of Regina Spektor with the single "All the Rowboats" is more than perfectly timed. With an intense, darkly ambient instrumental opening, Spektor shows that her vocal stylings have only gotten better during her three year absence (her last, slightly under the radar album, Far, did not attract as much attention as 2006's Begin to Hope).

As the first single off of her forthcoming album (set to be released this summer), What We Saw From The Cheap Seats, "All the Rowboats" is quintessentially Spektor: Theatrical, brooding, and indelible. In short, she has transformed into a much better version of Fiona Apple. Just listen for yourself.

If that doesn't make you want to go for a ride in a rowboat, I don't know what will.
