Emo-rock-avant garde rockers My Chemical Romance revealed their crazy super deluxe box set package for their upcoming album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, which is set to be released on November 22nd.
The package, as pictured on MCR's official website, is as follows:
If you can't read all that teeny-tiny font, $69.99 will get you the following:
- Full "Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys" Album on CD - Inside each BLI box you will receive 1 of 4 different 12" collectable RAY GUNS made out of poly resin with 4 separate color schemes representing each band member's gun with a clear acrylic stand and placard for display - Exclusive EP with three songs by The Mad Gear & Missile Kid - 1 of 4 wearable masks, with the color scheme corresponding to your ray gun - 1 'Bad Luck Beads' wooden bracelet - 48-page photo booklet entitled "Art Is The Weapon" - Everything housed in a special BLI white box wrapped with an exclusive photo sleeve
I know bands today have to spruce up their albums with frills and bells and whistles and ray guns and exclusive limited-edition gold-foiled stickers and fan packs and so on, but I wasn't expecting something as...random as this.
Then again, the lead single for this album is entitled Na Na Na, and the band used a cryptic series of viral videos to spread the word about this album. Therefore, I think it's safe to assume they're trying to do things a bit differently than most other bands.
So far, so good.
Here's the "official lyric video" for Na Na Na, which actually includes some masks and ray gun thingies:
So, yeah, there you go.
I haven't really been a huge fan of MCR in the past, but I appreciate their willingness to go against the grain and be a bit "out there"...so I'm pretty intrigued to hear what this album has in store.
I just don't know if I need the ray guns and bracelets.
