This morning brought some pretty dramatic news from the Coachella/Goldenvoice camp.

Next year's Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival will take place over TWO weekends - April 13-15 and April 20-22.

If you were one of the thousands of indie fans who missed out on tickets to this year's normal, one-weekend festival, you might have a better chance next year.

Goldenvoice posted this nice message on the Coachella home page:

In an effort to try and accommodate everyone who wants to experience the festival, COACHELLA 2012 will be two separate events, held over two consecutive weekends. We will attempt to produce two identical festival weekends. That means same lineup, same art, same place, different people.

We know many of you were unable to attend this year's festival because passes sold out much sooner than anticipated. We were truly surprised by the overwhelming response and remain honored by your passion and enthusiasm. We also know some of you purchased through non legitimate sources and were inconvenienced, gouged or totally scammed. We hope that these changes will give everyone the opportunity to purchase directly from Coachella.com.

It's pretty bold to try and get the same lineup to commit to two consecutive weekends, so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Fans are already whining and crying about the change, with some on the Coachella Message board losing their proverbial shit.

The layaway presale option for 2012 Coachella 3-day passes will start this Friday, June 3, so if you're financially ready to commit to a festival a year from now with no set lineup, have at it.

Otherwise, just sit back and wait for more information.
