I sat down with Adam Gereghty at The Viper Room before the lights went down for his show. He had come from Dublin Ireland to play shows here in Los Angeles. We talked about his shows in his hometown of Dublin and he was thrilled to be playing The Viper Room. His friends began to line up outside for the show and while he is under age, luckily, his audience here in the states, is not and many came out for the show. His shows in Dublin have been greeted with rave reviews and quite a following. I was very impressed with his old soul quality. For a singer of only 14, he had recorded and written everything he had ready to go. Everything was recorded at an in home studio though he told me he would be happy to record here in LA. The place isn't the main thing he told me, the main thing is the atmosphere and hat can be brought out in the music.
He took to the stage at the Viper room with minimal stage set up and an acoustic guitar. The minimal lighting setup worked well for his set and the audience ate it up. The beautiful and somewhat somber lyrics were a new tone for he venue and a welcome change for the night.
Adam and his family were to be in LA for a few weeks after the show for some exploration of the city and a couple shows in West Hollywood. With confidence and musical talents of someone far beyond his years, Andrew will be one to keep an eye on for sure. Irish blog 2UIBestow said "The sound that Adam is creating is an alternative singer-songwriter vibe which has its place in my collection. 'Revolve' is a fine debut EP.”
